Rangers will be bracing themselves for an incredibly swift turn of events surrounding Nicolas Raskin, as his returning Belgium international teammates trigger a rapid post-World Cup transfer domino effect.

The 25-year-old midfielder has returned to European soil after the Belgium national team touched down in Brussels on Sunday.

Their highly publicised 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign came to a premature end on Friday evening following a hard-fought 2-1 quarter-final defeat against Spain.

But while the dust is still settling on their North American adventure, the transfer market has moved at breakneck speed.

Less than 48 hours after landing, the Belgian squad is already being systematically dismantled by big-spending suitors, leaving Rangers highly vulnerable to a sudden, lucrative raid.

The 48-hour Belgium exodus

Since the national team stepped off the plane in Brussels, a flurry of elite business has sent shockwaves through the market, proving that World Cup visibility has put Belgian assets at the top of everyone’s shopping list.

Just 24 hours after returning home, Aston Villa were powerless to stop captain Youri Tielemans from advancing a £35million move to Manchester United after the Old Trafford giants triggered his release clause.

Fast forward another 24 hours to Tuesday morning, and veteran right-back Thomas Meunier agreed to join Premier League side Sunderland on a two-year deal following the expiry of his Lille contract, according to David Ornstein.

With his close international compatriots securing major moves before even unpacking their bags, Raskin is widely expected to be the next Belgium star to step into the transfer spotlight.

Rangers star Raskin next in line as top leagues circle

Unlike some of his veteran national teammates, Raskin’s age and physical profile make him a uniquely valuable commodity in the current market.

Having played an important role in Belgium’s midfield during the qualifiers and logging stellar displays in the United States, including a standout performance in the 4-1 round of 16 victory over the USA, the Rangers dynamo has clubs from three of Europe’s top five leagues actively positioning themselves.

Premier League newcomers Hull City have previously tested the waters with a bid in the region of £12m and £14m range, which was instantly swatted away by the Ibrox board.

Italian heavyweights Atalanta and Bologna have also entered the equation, alongside Spanish outfit Real Betis.

Rangers remain in a very strong negotiation position with Raskin contracted to Ibrox until 2028.

However, because of the intensifying post-World Cup scramble, it will not be a surprise if a quick exit is sealed.
