Rangers boss Steven Gerrard dropped an exciting transfer tease live on Sky Sports, straight after his side lifted the Premiership trophy.

The Gers completed an unbeaten season and went past the 100-point mark with a 4-0 hammering of Aberdeen at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon before the long-awaited trophy presentation took place.

A grinning Gerrard watched on as his players took turns to hold the trophy aloft and he eventually got his own hands on the silverware, soon after being soaked with champagne by Alfredo Morelos.

The drenched Gers boss was then interviewed by Sky Sports trio Eilidh Barbour, Ally McCoist and Kris Boyd, and he spoke about dipping into the transfer market to try and ensure that this season’s triumph isn’t a one-off for the group.

Nnamdi Ofoborh and Fashion Sakala have already been snapped up on pre-contracts, but it sounds as though several more players will follow over the coming weeks and months as Rangers look to splash the cash.

“This is a club where you can’t stand still – it’s about the future,” said Gerrard [Sky Sports]. “This has to be a launchpad. We have to fix the roof now. The sun’s shining and everyone’s happy, but it’s my job to now to find the tweaks, find the little malfunctions within the group that we need to iron out.”

“The recruitment is key now. You can see in the last few games that we’re short in certain areas. I’ve had some really interesting meetings with the board and they’re with me. They’ll back me and we’ll go again and we’ll try to build on this success.”

There’s been plenty of speculation about who might leave Ibrox this summer, with players like Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, Glen Kamara and Ianis Hagi all valuable assets.

A sale or two may have to take place in order to balance the books but supporters will be delighted that Gerrard and the board are intent on strengthening rather than dismantling the squad ahead of a title defence and a charge at the Champions League.

After the final day rout, Gerrard also provided an emphatic update on his future.
