Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has opened up regarding the absence of new signing Fashion Sakala from pre-season training as fans grow eager to get a look at the forward.
Sakala, 24, turned down Premier League clubs and sides from Ligue 1 to join the Gers and after netting 16 goals for KV Oostende in Belgium last season fans are certainly excited.
But when the team returned to pre-season training, Fashion was nowhere to be seen as the club’s players were put through their paces.
Speaking to RangersTV, Steven Gerrard has alluded to Covid-19 quarantine issues and something regarding the player’s passport as he announced the club’s summer transfer plans.
“We’re actively working ever so hard to bring some good players in alongside the recruitment that’s already been done in Jack (Simpson), in Scott (Wright), in Nnamdi (Ofoborh),” said Gerrard.
“Fashion Sakala will join us in the coming days, we’ve got some passport and Covid issues to get through first but he’s very excited to join us as well.
“The squad’s in good shape, it’ll be better in the coming weeks when we add to it.
“It’s a very exciting time but the message to send to our supporters is that myself, my staff and everyone around this group of players are going to push them even harder than we have done before to make sure we try and add to the success.”
Zambian international Sakala has already begun to win the hearts of Rangers fans as he talks up the club, the support and his ambitions for the future.
The ex-Spartak Moscow striker isn’t the only one whose absence from Rangers training has been catching the eye either.
