Rangers blew perfect left-wing solution chance as manager tells star ‘no way Jose’

When the transfer window slammed shut at Rangers, you got the feeling that Philippe Clement didn’t have it all his own way this summer.

The Belgian manager has had his hands tied given the dramatic squad overhaul that’s taken place and would’ve probably liked to add another two names to his squad.

Whilst Rangers got deals for Neraysho Kasanwirjo and Nedim Bajrami over the line in time for the deadline, Clement also wanted to add an experienced ‘number six’ and a left-winger to his squad.

But given the latest surrounding one former Rangers winger, could the Ibrox club have blown the perfect opportunity to bring him home?

Ryan Kent told ‘no way’ by Jose at Fenerbahce

It was terribly sad how it all ended for Ryan Kent at Rangers.

At times the inspirational instigator for the Ibrox side, the ex-Liverpool winger’s final season in blue ended with paltry returns and a feeling of general discontent.

The Gers had forked out £7m to sign Kent from Liverpool in 2019 and four years later let the talented winger leave for nothing.

Eventually being picked up by Fenerbahce, like so many before him the move to Turkey has been a disaster and now the media has begun twisting the knife.

The latest from Yeni Safak suggests that Ryan Kent has been told he ‘never play’ for iconic Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho after showdown talks this week.

It’s claimed that Fenerbahce are frustrated that Kent – who is now 27-years-old – did not negotiate a summer transfer.

With Kent also not keen on a move to Saudi Arabia, the suggestion is the player’s agents are attempting to negotiate his early release.

Kent had been linked to newly promoted Premier League outfit Ipswich Town whilst a report in A Spor claimed that the winger turned down a move to Scotland.

Rangers squad a left-winger short

Rangers fans know to take reports coming out of Turkey with a pinch of salt and they’ll do the exact same here with Ryan Kent.

But what is clear is that the winger has no real future with Fenerbahce.

The winger played in the first leg of a Champions League QR2 qualifier with Lugano but hasn’t been seen since.

Moreover Kent has not been involved in any of Fenerbahce’s four Turkish Super Lig matchday squads so far this season.

It’s clear that Ryan Kent isn’t going to make it at Fenerbahce and it almost certainly raises the question of a potential solution at Rangers.

With the Ibrox side missing out on Brighton attacker Abdallah Sima, the left-wing berth is one area which remains visibly short heading into the first half of the season.

Rangers were known to be close on a deal for Sam Edozie in the final stages of the window but the deal appeared to collapse when the Gers had to stump up for Nedim Bajrami.
