Rangers big money price tag set after January bid fails to impress

If Rangers are to move to self sustainability then selling players at the right time has to be at the principles very core – not that this would make the departure of Jack Butland any easier to take.

Usually, you would expect younger players in Gers boss Philippe Clement’s squad to tick this box, however, the 30-year old’s form has been so impressive that it has caught attention across the border.

A game at Ibrox doesn’t go by without his song being heard and much of Rangers return to a title fight has been down to Jack Butland and some of his performances.

Rangers set price for in-demand Jack Butland

That England manager Gareth Southgate is considering a recall for the nine-times capped stopper tells its own story.

Yes, he might have a few issues in that department in terms of injury to Nick Pope and Aaron Ramsdale not playing, but it is a huge compliment for both Southgate and the national team’s goalkeeper coach to drop Butland’s name into the mix once again.

There aren’t many players that get into their 30s in Scotland and have the ability to become such a valauable asset and yet this is exactly the situation that Rangers find themselves in with Jack Butland.

A bid from Nottingham Forest was rejected outright in January and with former Sky Sports reporter Pete O’Rourke claiming, via Football Insider, that a fee of £10-15m is where the Ibrox hierarchy value their number one at it’s easy to see why.

If he was playing in the Premier League, this is where his price tag would be set so, playing for Rangers should be no different given some of his displays in Europe and in the league.

An international call up would be a huge boost for both the club and the player, not that it would make it any easier to accept if someone put their hands in their pockets and paid what we are wanting.
