Rangers’ back-up transfer option in Benie Traore has just been blitzed after the BK Hacken striker was unveiled at Premier League Sheffield United.
The Blades have officially confirmed the transfer of the Ivorian attacker, 20, who joins after a barnstorming season in Sweden where the youngster has already scored 15 goals in 20 games.
Whilst Benie Traore officially joins Sheffield United on an undisclosed fee, the Daily Mail have reported that the deal is worth around £4m.
Rangers fans will have one eye on the transfer given the club’s extensive transfer links to Benie Traore earlier in the summer transfer window.
Reports had suggested that Rangers were one of several suitors for the talented youngster, with Sheffield United another name routinely mentioned in the Benie Traore pursuit.
Rangers-linked Benie Traore moves to Sheffield United
First mentioned by journalist Alan Nixon, it led plenty to follow the story closely as Rangers looked to bolster their frontline ahead of the campaign.
As Mail Plus went to break the story regarding Abdallah Sima’s loan switch from Brighton, they then claimed Traore was never a first-choice target for Rangers, with the Sheffield United-bound forward a back-up option.
Rangers had already added Sam Lammers (Atalanta) and Abdallah Sima (Brighton) to their squad before the signing of Cyriel Dessers (Cremonese), who appears to have been Michael Beale’s number one target.
The club is also pursuing a move for Feyenoord striker Danilo, who is another attacking option being strongly linked with a move to Rangers.

Should either of these deals have failed, with the move for Cyriel Dessers the only one confirmed as things stand, Rangers might’ve gone on to challenge Sheffield United for Benie Traore.
But with the Danilo interest still live, should the move for Brazilian falter then the club has lost the option of pursuing one of the most high profile back-ups on the Ibrox summer shortlist.
