Rangers back in talks to finally sign 'terrific' midfielder

Rangers are hoping to wrap up a deal for midfielder Jose Cifuentes after going back into talks with LAFC.

The Gers have done plenty of business this summer but Cifuentes has been elusive so far.

Rangers have been chasing the LAFC star for months now but still no deal has been done.

The Daily Record got people excited last week as they claimed that a £1.2million deal had been agreed for Cifuentes to finally join Rangers.

That hasn’t materialised but new claims suggest that a deal could be moving closer after all.

The Daily Record claim that Rangers have now resumed talks with LAFC in the hope of bringing Cifuentes to Ibrox.

It’s stated that Rangers chiefs are hoping to get a deal in place for Cifuentes having agreed on the ‘broad outline’ of a deal a while ago.

The finer details have been a problem but Rangers and LAFC are now confident a deal can be done for Cifuentes in the coming days.

MLS break opens door for Rangers to sign Jose Cifuentes

The real hope here is that the break in LAFC’s season can pave the way for Rangers to sign Cifuentes.

LAFC drew 1-1 with Minnesota United over the weekend and now don’t play an MLS game until facing Colorado Rapids on August 21st.

LAFC do though have a Leagues Cup tie on August 2nd, but that still gives Rangers some time to get a deal done.

It’s understandable that LAFC may want to keep hold of Cifuentes whilst they were playing important MLS games.

Now the season has gone into a break period, Rangers may be able to seize their opportunity and secure Cifuentes once and for all.

The 24-year-old is a real all-action midfielder and should be a superb addition alongside Nicolas Raskin for years to come.

Cifuentes was once hailed as a ‘terrific’ midfielder by South American football expert Tim Vickery and this feels like a major signing for Rangers.

Let’s hope that the end of this transfer saga is finally within sight, with Rangers nearing an exciting addition.
