The agent of Rangers star Alfredo Morelos has rejected reports that the Colombian striker could be set for a move to Zenit St Petersburg before the Russian transfer window closes.

Ibrox striker Morelos, 25, has been on a rich vein of form in recent weeks and leads the club’s scoring charts with 17 goals this season.

A vital part of how the Ibrox side plays, losing Alfredo Morelos at this stage of the season would represent a monumental blow to the club.

But reports of a move to Zenit have been tempered by Morelos’ agent Michael Gorman, who claims the links are patently false.

“This information is not true,” Gorman told Sport 24.

“No proposals have been received from Russia.”

According to that report, it would take £20m for Zenit to take Alfredo Morelos to Russia with Rangers holding out for big bucks for their star man.

Now in his fifth season at Ibrox, Alfredo Morelos has been perrenially linked with the Rangers exit door almost since he first walked into the club back in 2017.

Signed for a reported £1m from HJK Helsinki, Alfredo Morelos has gone on to develop into a fine Rangers forward and losing him to Zenit St Petersburg is unthinkable at this stage of the season.

There has also been a sizeable upturn in form ever since Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Roy Makaay came into the club with El Bufalo a man reborn under this management team.

Rangers fans can take solace in the comments of Michael Gorman and in the fact that Alfredo Morelos will not be moving to Zenit before the Russian window shuts on Tuesday evening (22/02).

Meanwhile, some Rangers fans have been questioning the club’s January transfer business after an injury to one of the Ibrox side’s latest signings.
