Glen Kamara’s chances of a move from Rangers to Besiktas may have suffered a blow with the Turkish Super Lig giants in talks with CSKA Moscow for the £5 million-rated Bakhtiyor Zaynutdinov.

It is well over a month now since Mick Beale suggested that the long-serving Finland international might have played his final game in the iconic deep blue shirt of Rangers

“He is either going to be here for a considerable future, or we will probably sell him this summer,” Beale told the Daily Record

“He has not got back in (the starting XI) because the boys that are playing have played very well. For Glen, everything is open really. But I think he needs to look at the competition that’s here in pre-season and decide whether there is going to be enough football for him.”

Glen Kamara fell behind Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin in Beale’s pecking order from January onwards. And the signing of Kieran Dowell from Norwich City, plus the potential arrival of LAFC ace Jose Cifuentes means that – should he stick around – things will only get harder for the one-time Arsenal prospect.

Then again, there does not exactly appear to be a throng of clubs queuing around the block to bring an end to Kamara’s four-and-a-half-year Rangers career.

Glen Kamara in limbo at Rangers

Besiktas, per Fotospor, offered a straight loan deal last week without a purchase clause. Given that Kamara has only two years left on his contract, it is hard to see how such an arrangement would benefit Rangers.

What’s more, Kamara does not appear to be a priority as far as Besiktas are concerned. Last week’s approach came about only after the Istanbul-based outfit hit a brick wall in their pursuit of Lens’ Jean Fofana.

What’s more, talks are ongoing with Russian giants CKSA Moscow for Bakhtiyor Zaynutdinov. CSKA’s £5 million asking price is a little rich for Besiktas’ blood but there remains a hope that Zaynutdunov – versatile Kazakhstan international who can play in defence, in midfield and on the flanks – will still be snapped up for a more affordable sum.

Kibris Haber report that talks between the two clubs are ongoing.

And this threatens to leave Kamara in limbo. No longer a first-team regular at Rangers, and seemingly only a back-up option for a Besiktas side pursuing other targets.
