Glen Kamara could leave Rangers this summer and his next move will be ‘decisive’ in the midfielder’s career according to one former Finland international.
At the age of 27, Glen Kamara finds himself at something of a career crossroads.
Does he risk staying put at Ibrox and fight for his place in the Rangers XI? Or does he instead decide that now is the right time for a fresh challenge after a difficult 18 months at the Glasgow giants?

If the former Arsenal man opts for the latter option, Rangers boss Mick Beale certainly won’t stand in his way.
Glen Kamara will be allowed to leave Rangers
“For Glen, everything is open really,” Beale told The Sun this month. “He is either going to be here for a considerable future or we will probably sell him this summer.
“I think he needs to look at the competition that’s here in pre-season and decide whether there is going to be enough football for him. It’s not my sole decision.”
Kamara started only one of Rangers’ final 12 Scottish Premiership games at the end of 2022/23. In addition to January recruits Nicolas Raskin and Todd Cantwell, the Gers have now signed Kieran Dowell with Jose Cifuentes also expected to be on his way. As such, opportunities may be even harder to come by going forward.
‘Decisive summer’
Kamara scored a confidence-boosting goal during Finland’s 6-0 Euro 2024 qualifier victory over San Marino on Monday. And Markus Halsti, who played 33 times for the Scandinavian nation between 2008 and 2018, believes this summer is likely to be a sliding doors moment in the playmaker’s career.
“The goal certainly felt good (for Kamara),” Halsti tells Yle. “And he was still in the starting line-up.
“I believe that this summer’s transfer (market) will be decisive in Glen’s career.”
This was only Kamara’s second goal in 52 Finland caps. His overall performance, meanwhile, was one of a man with a point to prove, even if the opposition was about as limited as you could hope to find.
“At the beginning of the game, we needed movement and a direction in which to play,” Yle reporter Jarkko Wiss says. “Glen was on a really good footing.”
