Rangers-linked Israeli wonderkid Oscar Gloukh has signed a new deal with Maccabi Tel Aviv – but as our Celtic rivals also reportedly swirl a release clause has been inserted into the deal.
Attacking midfielder Gloukh, 18, has put an end to speculation surrounding his future by penning a two-year extension to his current deal at Maccabi Tel Aviv.
This news will come as a relief to fans of Maccabi Tel Aviv, who were worried they might lose the youngster for nothing if a new deal couldn’t be agreed before January.
But despite the fact Oscar Gloukh has committed his short term future to the Israeli club there is cause for some concern regarding a potential release clause.
Reports are also suggesting that the teenage sensation has a £6m release clause in the contract as part of the deal, meaning potential suitors can move for Oscar Gloukh if they front the cash.
Rangers-linked Oscar Gloukh sign Maccabi Tel Aviv deal
Rangers were linked with a move for Oscar Gloukh earlier in the season as Israeli-based Ibrox podcaster Andy Barnett first claimed the Gers had watched the midfielder at the summer’s U19s European Championships.
Old Firm rivals Celtic – who have regularly used the Israeli market – were also linked by press in Israel which had claimed the player had initially turned down a new deal at Maccabi Tel Aviv [Sport 5].
The same outlet have also previously reported interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Ajax and Borussia Dortmund.
It’s clear that Oscar Gloukh remains one of the most highly-sought after young talents in the European game but at present the player looks committed to life at Maccabi Tel Aviv.
For £6m, that could all reportedly change although we’re not so sure Rangers will be eager to shell that much out for a teenager who is untested outside of Israel.
Meanwhile, major doubts surround one Ibrox star’s future after yet another injury blow.
