There’s been a twist in Rangers’ pursuit of a potential Allan McGregor replacement as Benjamin Siegrist reaffirms his commitment to Dundee United amid transfer speculation.
The Gers are well aware that legendary Ibrox goalkeeper Allan McGregor will be 40 come the end of the season with any talks regarding a contract renewal shelved until the end of the season.
Replacing the Rangers goalkeeper is going to be one almighty task and – even if McGregor does sign on again next season – there will come a time when he hangs up his gloves for good.
Whilst the jury remains out that Swiss international stopper Benjamin Siegrist is a suitable replacement for Allan McGregor the Arabs stopper has been linked to Rangers.
With his contract expiring at the end of the season, the 29-year-old ex-Aston Villa stopper is amongst the names reportedly being considered at Ibrox and is widely regarded as amongst the best goalies in the Scottish Premiership.
Rangers aren’t the only names being linked to Benjamin Siegrist either, with Premier League Southampton another name mentioned [Daily Mail].

“It always sounds like a cliche, but there is a lot of truth behind it, when a player feels complete trust, then he is also able to produce performances that nobody expected before.

“There is a beautiful saying that goes: ‘All obstacles and difficulties are steps on which we climb’.”
Benjamin Siegrist isn’t the only rival Premiership stopper being linked to Rangers either with another homegrown option also touted on a pre-contract.
