One thing that unites Rangers fans is that, even with Philippe Clement still in charge, new and better players need to be signed.

The quality in the squad couldn’t be better illustrated by how little impact players like Cyriel Dessers, Kieran Dowell and Ross McCausland made when they came on at Ibrox against the worst team in the Scottish Premiership

Patrick Stewart has spoken about transfers and potential incomings with moving players out still the priority for Rangers as the manager has his say on expectations for the next couple of weeks.

Philippe Clement responds to Rangers transfer plans question

Speaking after the 3-1 win over St Johnstone, Clement was asked about the need for defensive reinforcements with the transfer window open:

“That’s a frustration to get goals against us like that today because the organisation is clear, it’s about winning the duels,” said the Gers boss.

“About positions, I never speak about that outside. Everybody knows in the building what we want, what we need.

“I saw the last two months a lot of players that recruitment team came with, and several good players who can add the squad in quality.

“It’s now about getting that over the line, and we will see how far the club can get with that.”

Who are the players Rangers have been linked with?

Rangers have been linked with Bamo Meite, however, the Marseille stopper is now injured.

There is no point replacing players who aren’t fully fit with another.

The Light Blues have reportedly made an approach for Hjalmar Ekdal, the Swedish international centre-half who Burnley have made available for loan.

The 26-year old needs game time after recovering from a hamstring injury sustained on international duty in the summer and Rangers could offer him that.

The seven-times capped defender is fully fit, but has lost his place in Burnley’s starting XI ad Clement is short of depth.

Given Rangers predicament, the lack of movement in or out is only going to worsen the relationship between the support and the club.
