Rangers manager Philippe Clement uncharacteristically lets slip his transfer excitement as he suggested new arrivals at Ibrox could be here within days.
The Belgian boss was speaking after Rangers progressed to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup with a comprehensive 4-1 victory in a rain-soaked Dumbarton.
On a wet and windy evening at the Rock, progression was the only thing that mattered with goals from John Lundstram, Cyriel Dessers, James Tavernier, and Scott Wright securing the victory.
But amid a tense January transfer hunt, the particulars of the game were something of an afterthought come full time.
Philippe Clement transfer hint
Speaking to the Scottish Cup’s official sponsors Viaplay, the Rangers manager was quizzed on the “appetite” of his players after lifting the League Cup in December.
But it was something the Rangers manager said later in his response which will have turned the heads of supporters.
Ordinarily very tight-lipped on the club’s transfer business, Philippe Clement could barely contain his excitement and gave away a wry smile as he let slip business could be concluded in “the next couple of days”.
“I want really ambitious players,” Clement told Viaplay after the match. “If they show me ambition they will get chances, they know.
“I see a squad who is pushing every day to be in the starting XI and we need to continue in that way with a few transfers the next couple of days or the next two weeks and then they want to challenge everybody.
When asked if there would be a few more signings to come, Clement responded: “We will see, we’re working hard on that.”
Rangers links continue after Dumbarton Scottish Cup win
It’s clear Rangers are lining up January additions and going by the comments transfer additions are now looking increasingly likely.
When that will be remains something of a mystery, but in claiming that deals could be concluded in a matter of days the Rangers boss has suggested something is very close indeed.

The Gers have been linked to a number of players across a variety of positions this January with the striker and left-back berths the most discussed.
Of all the links, Lawrence Shankland remains the stand-out name with Steven Naismith offering an explanation as to why the striker didn’t play in Hearts’ late 2-1 win away to Spartans.
