Jamie Barjonas announced on Instagram on Tuesday that his time at Rangers has come to an end, with Nathan Patterson, Jordan Jones and George Edmundson amongst those to subsequently wish him well for the future.

Barjonas started off with the Rangers Soccer Schools over a decade ago and made his first-team debut under Pedro Caixinha in a Premiership clash against Partick Thistle back in 2017.

He made a total of nine senior appearances but although he scored against Nice in a pre-season friendly win last summer, he didn’t make a competitive appearance under Steven Gerrard.

The 22-year-old has been out on loan at Bury, Raith Rovers, Partick Thistle and Ayr United in recent seasons but with a number of established international midfielders at Ibrox, it was always going to prove difficult for him to break back into the first team.

“So, after 14 years my time at Rangers has come to an end,” he wrote on Instagram. “From soccer schools on Sundays to making my first team debut I’ve made so many amazing memories that will stay with me for life.”

“To the unbelievable fans who make the club so special, I’d like to say thank you for the support. To everyone who played a part along the way, I will be forever grateful & I wish the club nothing but success in the future.”

A number of current and former Rangers players responded to his heartfelt post with words of support.

Nathan Patterson replied: “All the best mate top player” along with goat and heart emojis.

Jordan Jones said “Good luck bro”, while George Edmundson added “all the best tree trunk legs” along with several crying emojis.

Amongst the other Rangers-connected individuals to offer support were Ally McCoist, Ryan Hardie, Serge Atakayi, Leon King and Josh McPake.
