Old Firm rivals Celtic have joined Rangers in “extensively” scouting Bristol City striker Antoine Semenyo according to reports south of the border.

According to Bristol Live, there are several clubs monitoring the 22-year-old striker, who has been capped six times and scored once for the Ghanaian international side and also played at the World Cup in Qatar.

The outlet quotes Turkish reports concerning potential interest from Fenerbahce but Rangers fans will be more interested in what they have to say about the Ibrox club.

Bristol Live go into greater depth regarding who is interested in Antoine Semenyo with Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Celtic and Rangers all mentioned.

In fact, the newspaper claims that both of the Glasgow giants have scouted Semenyo “extensively” with the striker’s contract set to expire at Ashton Gate come the end of the season.

However, they claim that the Gers may struggle to compete with any Premier League interest due to the finances involved.

An excerpt reads:

“Scottish duo Rangers and Celtic have also long been linked, and have watched the 22-year-old extensively, although it remains to be seen whether they could match either Premier League side financially.”

Rangers and Celtic scouting Antoine Semenyo

It’s not the first time Rangers have been linked with a move for Antoine Semenyo either, with reports coming out of the striker’s native Ghana linking the Gers earlier in the year.

Rangers have had issues in the striker position this season and there could be some change up top in the coming months amid contract issues and injury problems.

Once-talismanic Colombian firebrand Alfredo Morelos has been something of an underwhelming benchwarmer this season and the player’s final Rangers campaign threatens to go out with a whimper.

Out of contract in the summer and out of sorts at Ibrox, there is every chance Alfie moves on for nothing and Rangers will have big hole to fill. Perhaps Antoine Semenyo can fill it.

Then there is striker Kemar Roofe who has been perennially injured ever since joining the club and has seen his entire season disrupted due to a series of problems.

A nice guy certainly and a top striker when fit, the ex-Leeds United man is quite simply unreliable and Rangers may be forced to find reinforcements elsewhere.

Meanwhile, as links to Antoine Semenyo continue, here’s the reason behind links to a German striker currently plying his trade in England.
