It seems as though the Old Firm battle for Josh Maja is off.
A report in the Sunday People (Print edition 20/1/2019, page 49), suggested that Rangers were interested in his services.
Celtic, too, were listed as a potential suitor in a report by the Sun.

It’s little wonder there was rumoured interest in Glasgow.
The 20-year-old has netted 16 goals in all competitions for Sunderland this season, averaging much better than a goal every other game in League One.

What’s more, he only has six months left on his current deal and therefore, is able to enter into pre-contract negotiations with non-English clubs.
However, Scotland won’t be his next destination.
A Sky Sports News report suggests he is on his way to Bordeaux, in France.

While the deal is yet to be confirmed, the report claims negotiations are in their final stages.
When all is said and done, the deal could be worth around £3.5 million to the Black Cats.

Rangers are well stocked with strikers at present, but looking ahead to next season, Maja would have been an excellent addition.
That being said, at least he isn’t heading for the other half of the city.
