The former head of youth development at Motherwell, Gordon Young, has spoken to the Scottish Herald about new Rangers signing Jake Hastie.
The 20-year-old talent came up through the ranks across a decade at Fir Park.

However, after a breakout second half of the 2018/19 season, he opted to join Rangers.
The winger signed a pre-contract agreement last month and will report to pre-season training next week.
Yet, his former coach, Young, says it’s a move he could have made a lot sooner.
“He [Hastie] knocked back Rangers three or four times, and the stick he is taking now is unfair,” he told the Scottish Herald.
“He knocked Rangers back on numerous occasions because his family felt that being at Motherwell was a better way to progress.
“They are enjoying now the commitment they’ve made, and while I used that as a selling tool to bring players in, where they have now gone to is the next piece of marketing; come to Motherwell and look at what can be achieved.”

Verdict
It’s interesting to hear that Hastie has been on Rangers’ radar for many years. Especially, as only a smattering of Scottish football fans would have heard of him until a few months ago.
Yet, both he and his former teammate, David Turnbull, have obviously been standout talents since a young age.
It’s still unclear how much Rangers fans will see of their new man next season, though.
The Scottish Sun reports that he’s likely to head out on loan to further his development, although no specific club has been linked as yet.
