Reports have been circulating in recent days, that Rangers are close to signing USA international Matt Polster.
He first came on trial back in December and it seems the ex-Chicago Fire player, has done enough to earn himself a move.

Yesterday, Steven Gerrard confirmed that a transfer hinged on a work permit.
Mostly,
Speaking to Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast, as quoted by the
“He started in defensive midfield and then moved to right-back in 2017. He really thrived there”, explained the pundit.

“He picks up the ball in advanced positions, he’s really good at tucking inside, he’s good at combinations in the tight spaces because he’s got technical ability from central midfield days.”
However, it wasn’t unconditional praise.
“He’s quick, strong, but my question, as i’m sure is the same with Rangers, is the health”, Wiebe continued.
“Because he had a knee injury and basically missed 2018.”
We have heard all about Polster’s consistent performances for Chicago Fire, but injury problems haven’t been stressed so regularly.
Naturally, all serious knee injuries leave doubts about a player.

However, as Wiebe goes on to suggest, perhaps that’s why Rangers wanted such a long look at him on trial before making a decision.
That period was likely an assessment of both his ability and his fitness.
If Polster is to sign on the dotted line, lets hope this issue doesn’t rear its head in the future.
