Three Championship clubs, including Middlesbrough, are interested in signing Rangers winger Jordan Jones, according to the Daily Record.

Jones has struggled since arriving at Ibrox last summer and it’s claimed Steven Gerrard has told him he is not in his first-team plans ahead of the new Scottish Premiership season.

It’s suggested that the Northern Ireland international isn’t short of admirers in England, though.

The Record reports that Middlesbrough, Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers are all interested in his signature, although given the 2019/20 Championship season has only just finished and the transfer window will be open for some time to come, bids aren’t expected imminently.

Jones currently has three years remaining on his Gers contract.

When Jones featured off the bench against Lyon during pre-season, it looked as though Steven Gerrard was prepared to offer the 25-year-old a second season to prove himself at Rangers.

This report suggests his time is up though, and that’s likely a huge disappointment to a player who said it was his dream to represent the club.

It now seems as though he could leave after making just 14 appearances and without netting for the Light Blues.

Of the clubs said to be interested in signing Jones, Blackburn Rovers finished highest in the English second-tier in the season just passed, but the winger started out at Middlesbrough and his former international manager, Michael O’Neill, is in charge at Stoke.
