Michael Beale to have “final say” as Rangers transfer plans revealed

Ross Wilson is a man under pressure at Rangers but the responsibility of recruitment appears to have been shifted onto Michael Beale.

The summer window is one that is now looking like there might be more hits than misses, how much the sporting director could control the number and severity of injuries in the first half of the season is up for debate. January, with Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin looks like being a success, for now, at least.

Michael Beale has spoken about the type of player that he is hoping to attract to the club; younger, more dynamic, the sort of profile shared by the winter acquisitions but how much influence will the Gers gaffer have when the window reopens?

Michael Beale the man in control

According to commercial partner and fan media representative Stevie Clifford of Four Lads Had a Dream fame, Beale could have more influence than his predecessor and, potentially, even more than Steven Gerrard.

When asked by a fan who will lead the rebuild between Beale and Wilson, Clifford revealed that the Gers gaffer will be front and centre:

Raskin was a target long before Beale returned to the club, however, the fact that he was signed early rather than on a pre-contract suggests that he met the manager’s approval.

As for Cantwell, if there are more targets like him up his sleeve, then not only will he have a significantly better squad, the pressure on Ross Wilson’s shoulders might just be lifted as well.

It’s going to be a transfer window where gambles and punts won’t be accepted.
