Rangers boss Michael Beale claims that the disappointing opening day defeat to Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership will not change his transfer plans.

Speaking following the 1-0 defeat at Rugby Park, where the Rangers manager started five of his nine new summer signings, the Ibrox boss refused to panic following the lacklustre showing.

Rangers have seen a sizeable squad turnover this season with several players coming into the club and several others with substantial Ibrox experience going out.

Visibly disappointed after the opening day defeat, which has the pressure already mounting on the Rangers boss, Michael Beale also claims that the outgoing transfers will continue.

“Nothing’s changed in terms of the window,” said Michael Beale.

“Obviously there’s a little bit of uncertainty over one or two players who are not here today.

“Well, there’s not uncertainty, they’re on their way out of the club, it’s a matter of time when they move on and this group’s coming together.

“There wasn’t a lack of effort today, if anything there was a little bit of a lack of connection but the games are here, they’re not going anywhere.”

The comments come with much speculation surrounding first-team trio Glen Kamara, Scott Wright and Fashion Sakala, who are all the subject of transfer negotiations as things stand.

According to reports, Finnish international Kamara is now mulling over several clubs with Rangers hoping to recoup a cool £5m on the ex-Dundee star.

As for Scott Wright, the winger is in discussions over a £500k move to Turkey whilst Rangers look set to recoup £4m for Fashion Sakala, who is the subject of interest from Saudi Arabia.

Should the deals come off – with Michael Beale suggesting the transfers are imminent – that’s a combined £9.5m boost to Rangers transfer coffers and fans will be expecting some of it to be spent.

Central defence and full-back are areas of grave concern at Ibrox in particular, whilst for all the money spent on the forward line the club still lacks the necessary dynamism to break stubborn opposition down.
