Michael Beale claims that Rangers are paying nowhere near the rumoured figures for top transfer targets.
Rangers’ pre-season preparations continued on Wednesday night with a home friendly against Olympiacos.
This was a difficult night for Beale as Rangers slumped to a 3-1 defeat against the Greek side
It’s only pre-season of course but this was a disjointed performance that hasn’t really inspired confidence.
Beale is still trying to bed new signings into his Rangers side and there may be some disappointing displays like this along the way.
Rangers have got plenty of business done but a couple of signings are still yet to be done.
Feyenoord striker Danilo and LAFC midfielder Jose Cifuentes are both wanted and deals for the duo appear to be close.
Fans are waiting to see those deals get over the line, but Beale has given some advice on the rumour mill…
Michael Beale comments on Rangers transfer rumours
Beale spoke to Rangers Review after the defeat to Olympiacos and was understandably asked about transfers.
Beale suggested that everybody needs to be a little more patient over the coming days and that there may only be concrete news at the start of next week.
The Rangers boss did though suggest that some of the numbers doing the rounds in terms of transfer fees and wages are ‘nowhere near’ the truth.
“I’d just say you need to be patient a bit till over the weekend,” said Beale. “I wouldn’t listen to the size of fee or salary, there are a lot of things going around and I’ll tell you it’s nowhere near the size of both. If you stay patient I’m hoping there’s some good news at the start of next week for everybody,” he added.
We can only assume that Beale was particularly focusing on Danilo here.

Some reports claim that Rangers will be paying just shy of £1million to sign midfielder Cifuentes.
It’s hard to imagine that LAFC would sell him for much less than that, even with his contract ending in just a few months.
The numbers surrounding Danilo have been much bigger, starting with Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad suggesting that the fee will be around €6million (£5.2million).
De Telegraaf also suggested that Danilo would be earning around €45,000-a-week (£39,000-a-week) at Rangers, which would be a hefty outlay.
Beale is adamant that Rangers aren’t paying that kind of money, which may end up making Danilo seem like a bargain as the Gers close in on his signature.
