Michael Beale has magic Rangers transfer touch

It’s not a coincidence that three of the last four signings have all mentioned how important Michael Beale was in them deciding to join Rangers.

Previously, it was the Steven Gerrard factor, now, it would appear that the Gers gaffer knows exactly the right thing to say to potential new players.

Speaking after being unveiled as Michael Beale’s second Rangers signing of the summer already, Dujon Sterling, revealed just how big a part the boss played in persuading him to head north.

What have the players said about Michael Beale’s influence in Rangers deals?

Three of the last four signings have specifically mentioned Michael Beale as a key factor for them signing for Rangers but, what did they say?

Dujon Sterling on Beale:

“I got to speak to the gaffer straight away, I had a lot of clubs in for me but as soon as he gave me the proposal of what he wanted to do I left that meeting and I said yeah, I’m signing here.”

It was no different in January with both Nicolas Raskin and Todd Cantwell all hailing the impact of the Rangers manager in helping them to make their decision,

Nicolas Raskin on Beale:

“The manager convinced me to come because I had a few other offers, but it was good how the manager spoke to me. I wanted to come directly after he spoke to me.

Todd Cantwell on Beale:

“He was massive for me. Like I said previously, it is really important to have a manager that believes in you but also, that you believe in them.

“Loads of players say that, but it is the truth – you need to be on board with everything really if you want to get the best version of yourself and I feel like this manager can definitely get that out of me and I am really looking forward to starting working with him.”

All of these players had offers from elsewhere, they were all highly coveted, given their contract status, and yet we have managed to secure three, young, talented players for a combined £3m – give or take.

Incredible business from Michael Beale for the Rangers rebuild.

A sporting director is still needed to deal with other aspects of the club and the finer points of negotiations with agents, however, in the meantime, the gaffer seems to be coping just fine on his own.

If Jack Butland and Jose Cifuentes are next, two players with Premier League interest, then we probably should revise our recruitment strategy and just let the manager crack on with it himself.
