Manchester City wonderkid Cole Palmer shows exactly why a January Rangers loan move was rebuffed with a stunning Community Shield strike v Arsenal at Wembley.
The 21-year-old Etihad attacking midfielder looks set to be the next name off the Citizens’ conveyor belt with a stunning strike against the Gunners proving the kid’s talent.
Cutting inside on to his left foot, Cole Palmer left Arsenal keeper Aaron Ramsdale helpless by curling a stunning strike into the far right corner after replacing Erling Haaland in London.
But that stunning goal would not be enough for Cole Palmer and Manchester City to lift the Community Shield with Arsenal summer signing Leandro Trossard equalising in the 11th minute of injury time.
Mikel Arteta’s side would then keep their cool from the penalty spot to lift the shield but it was Cole Palmer who stole a lot of the headlines with the stunning effort.

Interestingly, Rangers were reportedly rebuffed in a January loan approach for the attacking midfielder as Michael Beale looked to reshape his Ibrox squad.
According to the Sun’s live transfer blog in January [The Sun (31/1; 11:16)], Manchester City rejected the Rangers approach due to the player’s proximity to the club’s first team.
However, it’s worth mentioning that these reports were also rebuffed at the time by leading Rangers fan media partners Heart & Hand.
The Premier League champions boast a bulked-out squad of world beaters and it speaks volumes that Cole Palmer has been able to already make 39 appearances for the Manchester City top team.
But this is the first moment that it’s really felt like the talented attacking midfielder has announced himself at the top level and Rangers fans might be left thinking what might’ve been.
The Gers have utilised the Premier League loan market in recent seasons with the signing of Amad Diallo from Manchester United perhaps the stand-out move.
This season, the Ibrox side have also signed Senegal attacker Abdallah Sima on loan from Premier League Brighton for the campaign.
