Malik Tillman has spoken about a possible return to Rangers and he might have dropped the biggest hint yet that his future is at Ibrox.

The 20-year old USA international impressed in his time at the club before injure cut it short, 10 goals and four assists is a decent return from just 22 league starts.

Posting on Instagram, Malik Tillman has posted a complialtion video in which the phrase “welcome to Ibrox” is very prominent.

A strange clip to include if he is leaving.

Tillman has revealed this week that his chances of staying at Rangers are 50/50 and that the decision will be made after discussions with Michael Beale and between the two clubs.

What are the stumbling blocks for Malik Tillman’s return to Rangers?

The option to buy clause is obviously not as straight forward as had once seemed.

In Ianis Hagi’s case, following his loan period, Ross Wilson managed to negotiate the Romanian playmaker’s price tag down but this is unlikely to be the scenario for the Bayern Munich youngster.

As with Hagi though, if Rangers pay the reported £5m agreed fee, then they will already be better off.

The going rate for players of Tillman’s ability is significantly higher.

For those who still harbour doubts over the deal, cast your mind back to Joe Aribo when he arrived and then, when he left.

Was he any more influential than Malik Tillman has been for Rangers?

Then consider that the German-born star is nearly seven years younger than the former Rangers maverick.

What the two have in common is that they are difference makers, capable of moments of magic to win a game or open up a defence.

That Aribo left in a £10m deal when he was into the last year of his contract proves why £5m for Tillman is a bargain.

Hopefully, as his post suggests, Tillman’s return to Germany is more “see you later” rather than “goodbye”.
