Former Rangers loanee Sheyi Ojo has been released by Premier League Liverpool, seeing the winger leave the Reds after 11 years at the club.
Sheyi Ojo signed a four-year contract in the summer of 2018 but objectively has not done enough to warrant further investment at Anfield
The 24-year-old attacker is amongst seven players officially let go by the Champions League finalists as they look ahead to the new season.
Sheyi Ojo enjoyed an initially promising loan spell with Rangers during the 19/20 season but fell away after a bright start and the move turned out to be a failed experiment.
Ex-Rangers winger Sheyi Ojo released from Rangers
Having joined Rangers after a series of loan spells with Wigan, Wolves, Fulham and Stade de Reims, stints at Cardiff City and Millwall followed Sheyi’s spell at Ibrox.
But the winger has failed to find himself a home whilst on loan and now Sheyi Ojo will be tasked with resurrecting his career at a new club following his Liverpool exit.
Having joined Liverpool as a 14-year-old, there was much early promise regarding the winger and he even broke through into the Anfield side during Jurgen Klopp’s early years in charge.
Making 13 appearances for the Merseyside outfit in total, Sheyi Ojo scored one goal for Liverpool, the strike coming in a 3-0 FA Cup replay win over Exeter in 2016.
But the winger hasn’t played for Jurgen Klopp’s side since the 2016/17 season and now Sheyi Ojo has officially left Anfield.
In total Ojo played 36 times for Rangers, scoring five goals, with his most memorable strike a long range effort in a 1-0 Europa League win over Feyenoord in 2019.
Meanwhile, a Rangers-centric journalist has claimed that the club are not interested in signing a £5m-rated Championship star.
