Porto may be forced to sell a player in order to reach Rangers’ demands over Alfredo Morelos – with Steven Gerrard’s former club Liverpool potentially a major player.

The Portuguese giants have been extensively linked to Morelos all week by reports in the Iberian nation and here in Scotland.

But so far – and despite claims in Portuguese media that the deal will be concluded this summer – there appears to have been no clear offer made for the player’s services.

Reports later in the week played down these reports and suggested Porto were not interested in a £13.8m Rangers asking price and in no rush to sign a replacement for Moussa Marega [Record via Sport Witness].

The Scottish Sun have also claimed that Porto are set to test Rangers’ resolve with a bid imminently, somewhere in the region of £10m.

Now, Marca in Spain claim that in order to fund the Morelos deal some players may have to leave the Portuguese club this summer.

They specifically mention Brazilian attacking midfielder Otavio, who has been extensively linked with a £34m move to Premier League club Liverpool.

Interestingly, the Marca transfer review linked above also claims that Premier League Brentford are the latest side to be interested in Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara.

The report also mentions Watford alongside the player, the Hornets having been extensively linked in the past.

Speaking of Kamara, read this remarkable stat which proves interest from some of Europe’s top clubs is completely justified.
