Leeds keen on Liverpool winger Wilson after Rangers reject Kent bid - report

The Liverpool Echo reports that Leeds United are interested in Liverpool winger, Harry Wilson, after seeing a bid for Ryan Kent rejected by Rangers.

The Whites are looking to strengthen their squad after gaining promotion to the Premier League and have already brought in Robin Koch from Freiburg and Rodrigo from Valencia.

Marcelo Bielsa has added quality at the back and up top but it seems he feels he’s still short in wide areas.

The Scottish Sun have since claimed that an improved £14m offer for Kent is in the pipeline but it seems he’s not the only wide player the Premier League newbies are interested in.

The Liverpool Echo states that Leeds have been in contact with Liverpool concerning Harry Wilson.

It’s suggested that after a series of stints away from Anfield, Jurgen Klopp is not prepared to let the player leave on loan again but that he would be available for a fee in the region of £20 million.

Southampton and Newcastle are also said to be interested in the 23-year-old, who scored seven top-flight goals for Bournemouth last season.

Leeds appear to turn attention to Wilson at Liverpool after Rangers reject Kent bid – Verdict

Harry Wilson is an impressive young player who was said to be on the radar of both the Gers and Celtic back in 2018 [Scottish Sun].

He prefers to play on the right side while Kent favours the left, but while they aren’t carbon copies of each other, it’s hard to see Leeds stumping up eight-figure fees for both players given they have already splashed the cash in this window.

Therefore, Bielsa’s alleged interest in the Wales international as well as Udinese winger, Rodrigo de Paul [Telegraph], will likely come as a relief to Rangers fans.

There could yet be more twists to come in this transfer saga but it seems that the Yorkshire club are exploring other options after being rebuffed by the Gers.

Kent has been a stand out player for Steven Gerrard so far this season, netting three times in Rangers’ opening six Premiership fixtures, and it’s important he remains at Ibrox if a title challenge is to be made.
