After starring for Kilmarnock this season, Daniel Bachmann has admitted he’s flattered to have interested Rangers, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
The 24-year-old stopper claimed at the end of April that Rangers had made contact [Scottish Sun].
However, there doesn’t appear to have been any progress on a potential move. Instead, the Gers are being linked with a swoop for Jonathan Klinsmann [Scottish Sun].
Currently, on loan from Premier League side Watford, Bachmann is set to return to Vicarage Road after Sunday afternoon’s fixture at Rugby Park.
“I feel I can go to Watford and play in the Premier League,” he said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun. “That is my target — to go back there and play.”
“It was nice to be linked with a big club like Rangers. If you’re playing well, there will be speculation with clubs.”
Bachmann has impressed this season. He was sent off in a cup replay at Ibrox, but at other times helped Clarke’s side frustrate the Gers.
However, if Gerrard and co. were genuinely interested in the Austrian, you would think it would be as a back up to Allan McGregor.
It’s said both Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick will leave the club in the summer [Scottish Sun]. Therefore, unless Robby McCrorie is promoted, there will be a void to fill.
If Rangers were seeing him as a potential no.2 option, you’ve got to think it’s unlikely he’ll make his target of starting for Watford in the Premier League, next season.
