Kevin Nisbet must be on Rangers radar after bargain move bid

Rangers need to add Scottish talent to the squad this summer and there is no better available player than Kevin Nisbet.

In January, Milwall agreed a reported £2.2million fee for the Hibernian striker but a change of heart saw the Scotland cap stay at Easter Road.

Now though, a return bid of £1.2m has been accepted for Kevin Nisbet from the Championship side with Galatasaray also interested and it should see Rangers spring into action.

There has been previous talk of Steven Gerrard and Michael Beale being keen on Kevin Nisbet but that the board failed to back them.

With just a year left on his deal though, Nisbet, at around £2m would be a bargain.

Why Kevin Nisbet would be astute Rangers signing

Nisbet guarantees goals domestically and has the potential to kick on working with better players like Todd Cantwell.

At the current count, Rangers domestic tally will include academy stars Adam Devine, Leon King and Alex Lowry with Robby McCrorie, Scott Wright, John Souttar, Kieran Wright and Ryan Jack being the senior players needed for UEFA quotas.

Going back an age group, Bailey Rice and Zack Lovelace will soon be considered as club developed players but are currently young enough that they don’t need to be added on to the A list.

There is a shortage of Scottish developed players available but Kevin Nisbet would tick all the boxes for Rangers in terms of quality, availability and price tag.

If I am being greedy, I’d like Michael Beale to go for Motherwell’s Max Johnston as well but the arrival of Dujon Sterling probably puts an end to that.

Every successful Rangers team has had a Kevin Nisbet, a striker who might not be first choice but can still push 20 goals a season.

In games when Michael Beale wants to go with two strikers domestically, Nisbet would be perfect and at the fee being mentioned, it is a tap in that the Hibs striker certainly wouldn’t miss
