Ross Wilson has a huge job on his hands at Ibrox this summer as he and Michael Beale must overhaul a creaking Rangers side.
The Gers have ten players out of contract at the end of the season, and with plenty of deadwood in need of shipping out of Glasgow, Beale’s starting XI could look very different by the start of the 2023/24 campaign.
With rumours already circulating about who Wilson could bring to Ibrox, let’s look at how four alleged targets could fit into Beale’s side…
Rangers XI if Ross Wilson & Michael Beale land four targets
Well – according to The Scottish Sun – Rangers are interested in signing Preston North End glovesman Freddie Woodman as Wilson looks to replace Allan McGregor.
It is said that Rangers are preparing a £3.5m bid for the 25-year-old, who has impressively kept 14 clean sheets in the Championship this season.
Wilson is also believed to be keen on bringing central defender Kevin Mantilla to Ibrox to bolster the backline.
Further up the field – midfield, to be specific – SPORT have claimed that Rangers are considering a bid for FC Basel captain Darius Olaru, a player who has been compared to Kevin De Bruyne.
In our view, the Romania international should be up there with Wilson’s primary targets, as Beale’s midfield desperately needs freshening up.
Elsewhere, the Herald have reported that Dimitrios Kourbelis – another player who captains his side, in this instance Greek giants Panathinaikos – is wanted by the Bears.
You can see how we think the quartet would fit into Beale’s starting XI below.

Clearly, this XI is based on the assumption that Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos agree new contracts at Ibrox this summer.
It would also see both Glen Kamara and John Lundstram removed from the starting XI, with Beale’s decision to start the pair against Celtic in the Scottish League Cup final coming in for heavy criticism.
In our potential XI, Mantilla would be partnering Connor Goldson in the heart of defence, although it would be a bold call to break up the Englishman’s solid relationship with Ben Davies.
However, with Liverpool also interested in the Colombian, he would surely want a starting place if he moved to Glasgow.
Hopefully, Wilson is laying down plenty of groundwork between now and the end of the season, as Rangers have no time to waste when the transfer window officially opens.
