Rangers and Celtic have both held a long-standing interest in West Brom attacker Josh Maja.

The Nigerian striker has been at the Hawthorns since 2023, and could be looking for a change of scenery this summer.

The 27-year-old scored six league goals last season, helping the Baggies avoid relegation to England’s third tier.

Rangers could reignite interest as Josh Maja considers options this summer

According to the Daily Record, the Ibrox outfit could rekindle their interest in Maja in this transfer window.

The striker is said to be assessing his options this summer, which could see him consider a move to Scotland if there is genuine interest.

Which area should Rangers prioritise on strengthening this summer? 🤔

Andrew Cavenagh has made some bold promises!

West Brom have offered him a new deal as his contract is running out at the end of June, but he has yet to put pen to paper.

Rangers have the opportunity to secure his services, but have yet to touch base with him over a potential summer transfer.

It remains to be seen if they are still interested, as they recently announced the signing of Lawrence Shankland.

Will Danny Rohl prioritise signing Maja after Lawrence Shankland?

The Gers signed Shankland from Hearts on a free transfer this week, which will see the club now have four first-team number nines.

While Bojan Miovski has not been a regular starter, he has shown that he is capable of finding the back of the net.

Despite the club’s long-standing links to Maja, it does not make sense to pursue his services as long as all four strikers are still at Ibrox.

Should one of them leave, it could change things, and Rohl may then ask the board to sanction a move for another striker as he plans to deploy a 4-2-2-2 system at the Light Blues.

There are other areas of the pitch he would much rather strengthen, especially his backline, with at least three new defenders expected.

Signing quality full-backs and centre-backs is not going to be a cheap ordeal, and funds need to be allocated for those positions rather than signing another striker, even though it is on a free transfer, as Maja will come on big wages.
