Reported Rangers target Joey Veerman has played in a pre-season friendly for Heerenveen – just as yet more stories appear regarding his frustration over the Dutch club’s asking price.
Rangers have been extensively linked with a move for Veerman, 22, all summer and this ramped up last week amid reports that the Gers were putting together a £7m package [Glasgow Times].
However, the Ibrox club are said to face competition from Serie A side Verona, a club whom Veerman himself has namedropped several times this summer.
Despite all the talk, Veerman was included in Heerenveen pre-season training camp and started a pre-season friendly against Eredivisie rivals Groningen.

Joey’s inclusion in the matchday XI for the pre-season friendly also come after fresh reports claimed that the player is “annoyed” with his parent side.
Leeuwarder Courant claim “he is walking around with the plague in his body” at pre-season training.
This is after claims that Verona had pulled out of the running to sign the player – who is clear he wants a new challenge – due to Heerenveen’s transfer demands [Sky Italia via Glasgow Live].
Reports in Holland believe that Verona were willing to pay €5m (£4.3m) for the player whilst Heerenveen want €12m (£10.3m) with Veerman contracted to the club for another three seasons.
Rangers fans will continue to keep a close eye on the player’s future in the coming weeks but it remains unclear just how close – or far – a deal may be from completion.
Heerenveen’s technical director has previously been drawn in the interest and revealed that the Dutch club are still considering a bid for the player.
