Israeli talent Oscar Gloukh has scored his second Champions League goal for RB Salzburg after strong links with a move to Rangers.

The 19-year-old playmaker scored a second half equaliser against Serie A giants Inter Milan in Italy after Alexis Sanchez had given the Nerazzurri the lead.

However the Oscar Gloukh strike could not prevent RB Salzburg falling to second defeat in three Champions League group stage games with Hakan Çalhanoğlu netting the eventual winner.

Oscar Gloukh’s latest Champions League goal is his second in the competition, the teenager having scored for RB Salzburg in their 2-0 victory over Benfica on the opening day.

Rangers fans will have one eye on the progress of Oscar Gloukh given high-profile links between the Ibrox club and the player during his time with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

The links originated in comments made by Israeli-based podcaster Andy Barnett on Heart & Hand during the U19s European Championships.

The story then made its way into the Scottish Sun and Rangers were eventually named as one of a number of sides reportedly tailing the young talent.

When the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona were linked it showed the scale of the challenge the club had on their hands when it came to the kid.

As things would transpire RB Salzburg would the team to win the race to sign Oscar Gloukh, signing a reported £6m (€7m) deal to sign the playmaker in the summer.

Since then Gloukh has gone on to impress in Austria with his second Champions League strike his fourth goal since the move to the country.

Whilst the interest around Oscar Gloukh never seemed to make a Rangers move likely, the situation shows what the Ibrox side are up against when it comes to securing top young talent.

Rangers also need to get in early before the players make that mid-tier move because it’s clear that Gloukh is now on a career-trajectory at Salzburg which puts him well out of the Ibrox side’s reach.
