Former Rangers defender Kirk Broadfoot has agreed a deal with Championship club Inverness Caledonian Thistle, according to the Daily Record.
Broadfoot spent five years at Ibrox between 2007 and 2012, winning four major honours and playing in the 2007/08 UEFA Cup final.
Since leaving the Gers, he’s turned out for Rotherham United, Kilmarnock and St Mirren, but is currently a free agent after ending his second stint at Killie earlier this summer.
Last month, it was reported that the former Scotland international was training with Queen of the South while considering a number of offers from both Scottish and English clubs.
Now, several weeks on, it appears that he’s finally made a decision on his future.
The Daily Record reports that he’s agreed a one-year deal at Inverness, with the option for a further year.
It’s stated that the 36-year-old turned down the chance to train with a Premiership club as well as offers from several other Championship sides in order to join Caley Thistle.
It’s also asserted that he will start his coaching career by working with the second-tier outfit’s Academy.
The transfer is yet to be officially confirmed but it’s suggested that Broadfoot could make his debut in a League Cup group stage fixture against Peterhead on Tuesday night.
After Steven Whittaker announced his retirement earlier this summer, Broadfoot is one of only three still active members of Rangers’ 2007/08 UEFA Cup final squad.
Steven Davis is back pulling the strings in the middle of the park at Ibrox, while Charlie Adam will be playing in the Premiership next season after leading hometown club Dundee to promotion last campaign.
Meanwhile, another former Rangers star is preparing to return to Ibrox for a high-profile clash.
