Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Rangers talent Jack Wylie is “focused” on Ibrox despite swirling interest from up to five Premier League clubs.

Reports have named the likes of Arsenal and Leeds United as suitors for the 15-year-old full-back as he prepares to sign his first professional deal in football.

There has been a suggestion that Leeds United have already made a move for the player with the entire situation having shades of Billy Gilmour’s transfer to Chelsea and Rory Wilson’s move to Aston Villa in the summer.

But speaking as part of the prominent transfer journalist’s Caught Offside Sub Stack account, Romano has moved to dispel any suggestion of an imminent decision being made.

The Italian has also claimed that it’s not just Arsenal and Leeds United who’re tailing the player with up to five Premier League clubs in total aware of Jack Wylie and his situation at Rangers.

“I’m not too surprised to see big names like Arsenal and Leeds being linked with 15-year-old wonderkid Jack Wylie as he’s a top talent, but what’s the truth about his situation?” asked Romano.

“There are four or five Premier League clubs that are following him, but it’s still too early to mention negotiations or advanced talks with Rangers.

“At the moment, I’m told is too early and Jack is focused on Rangers.”

Rangers will hope to convince Jack Wylie amid English interest

Rangers will be hoping to keep a hold of Jack Wylie as he looks to sign a professional deal and its clear that all is not lost in the Ibrox club’s hope to retain the player.

Whilst the lure, finances and prestige of the Premier League have been too much in the cases of Billy Gilmour and Rory Wilson, Rangers have managed to retain other youth players.

Leon King – who started in the Champions League at Anfield – is the optimum example but Rangers have also reportedly held off Premier League interest to secure contracts for the likes of Alex Lowry and even managed to poach Charlie McCann from Man United.

Whilst the top clubs down south can offer the best facilities and the biggest money, Rangers offer a quicker route to first-team football and the chance to play at the highest level at a younger age.

Meanwhile, Rangers have moved to sign up one Academy graduate for whom there are majorly high hopes at Ibrox.
