Rangers star Ianis Hagi has reiterated his commitment to life at Ibrox amid high-profile transfer links to a range of top European leagues.

Romanian attacking midfielder Hagi, 22, wound up the Scottish Premiership’s top assister (11) last season despite being in and out of the side at times.

Speaking to the Guardian, Hagi has been talking up life at Ibrox, his love of the club and his commitment to winning more and qualifying for the Champions League.

Not only that but Hagi speaks as though he still has plenty to learn at Ibrox as he adapts to the “mentality of winning”.

“I’ve enjoyed every second of being here because the coaching staff are unbelievable and I’ve grown so much in the past 18 months,” said Hagi, who also claims he “fell in love with Rangers” after a conversation with Steven Gerrard.

“It’s a really good environment for a player to grow into because I’m learning about the mentality of winning.

“Every person at this club pushes you to discover yourself as a player and that has helped me to keep improving.

“Now we are so focused on what we have to achieve next season.

“Trying to compete in the Champions League and domestically is going to take a massive effort but there is so much hunger in this team and we can’t wait for the season to begin.”

These comments also come whilst the player had been extensively linked away from the Gers ahead of the summer transfer window.

Serie A side Lazio were said to be musing over an £11m bid, La Liga Sevilla have been routinely mentioned, Bundesliga newboys Bochum were tipped to break the bank.

Hagi certainly doesn’t sound like he wants to anywhere and given the progress he’s made over the last 18 months, that certainly bodes well heading into next season.

The Romanian isn’t the only one talking up the near future at Ibrox as a new signing gets to work alongside his new teammates.
