‘I will see’ – Vaclav Cerny gives timeline to decide permanent Rangers transfer

Rangers will have a busy summer off the pitch, with the recruitment team having an even busier few months whilst the transfer window is open.

Names are being linked already with Kevin Boma, an ideal profile for the defence and Metinho the perfect fit for midfield.

If Rangers don’t need a striker, what they do need is width, wingers who can score goals and create chances with Vaclav Cerny reminding everyone at Ibrox how much he will be missed.

Last season it was Abdallah Sima, this season it will be Cerny, the “will he, won’t he?” transfer saga that the player himself has addressed.

Speaking after his well-taken goal and “assist” against Aberdeen, the Czech Republic international was coy about a Rangers return.

Vaclav Cerny reacts to permanent Rangers deal poser

When asked by Sky Sports Scotland if staying in Glasgow was an option, he said:

“Obviously, it is a big decision to be made.

“To be very honest, I have two games to go with every opportunity still open.

“I’m not focusing on that. After this I have the national team.

“Believe me or not, I am really focused on these two last games for this club and then I will see.”

With 18 goals and eight assists, all from open play, it is pretty obvious that Rangers should be looking to sign Cerny on a permanent basis.

How much would it cost to sign Cerny?

Moving on players like Rabbi Matondo would help, and the budget will also benefit from seeing Tom Lawrence and Ianis Hagi depart.

If Kieran Dowell and Jose Cifuentes can be sold too, there should be the money there to pay the £6-8m that Wolfsburg are said to be looking for the 28-year old winger.

Rangers need upgrades throughout the starting XI, the last thing that they need to be doing is gambling on a signing making the sort of impact that Cerny has.

He is worth the extra £2-3m, even if there might not be any sell on value.
