Barry Ferguson has offered some big praise for an alleged Rangers transfer target, whilst speaking on PLZ Soccer’s ‘The Football Show’.
Last weekend, the Daily Express reported Gers interest in John Souttar.
Since then, the 22-year-old centre-back has played a big role in Hearts reaching the final of the Scottish Cup.
He scored and helped keep a clean sheet at Hampden on Saturday, in a 3-0 win over Inverness Caley Thistle.

It seems former Gers skipper and club legend Barry Ferguson, is impressed by what he’s seen.
“I’ll be honest I wasn’t sure of him last season,” Ferguson told PLZ Soccer’s ‘The Football Show’.

“I think this season he’s got better. Physically, he looks a lot stronger and in the games, I’ve seen, he’s certainly impressed. He’s going in the right direction.
“I think he can be the next one to push to get into that Scotland team or a bigger move because as I say I think he’s got everything.
“He’s a ball playing centre-half and he’s got the added bonus that he’s playing with Berra, who’s experienced and helping him along – he’s a boy who I certainly think can go to a higher level.”

It’s a ringing endorsement of the standard of Souttar’s performances this campaign, that Ferguson has changed his mind so quickly.
After recommending him for success at international level and for a big move, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to suggest he would like to see the defender at Ibrox next season.
With Joe Worrall and Gareth McAuley set to leave the club in the summer, Gerrard certainly needs defensive reinforcements. Souttar may well be the top priority to that end.
