Speaking as part of an interview with HeartsTV, Andrew McKinlay has been updatint Jambos about the situation with Lawrence Shankland.

Reports earlier in the week pointed to a new Hearts contract and the Edinburgh club’s chief has confirmed the offer to the club media.

As things stand, there has also been no interest of any kind in the Hearts striker, either formal or informal.

“We’re] well aware, understandable given how good Lawrence has been for us since he came to the club,” said McKinlay.

“We are delighted with how well [he’s done] and we all know, it’s very obvious how important he has been to the team, in particular this season.

“It has been documented that there will be a lot of interest. As of today, we haven’t had any.

“We still have had no interest, either formally or informally, expressed in Lawrence and we are not encouraging any interest in Lawrence.

“As has also been documented, we have made an offer to Lawrence. Now, Lawrence, as you’d expect is already in the high-pay bracket within the club – we have various brackets for players.

“But we have made him an additional offer and that’s gone to him and that remains on the table for him to consider.

“As we sit here, Lawrence remains a Hearts player and I sincerely hope and believe at the moment that he will be a Hearts player on February 1.”

Gers transfer window striker hunt continues

A boyhood bluenose, for many Rangers supporters Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland is the answer to the club’s stuttering form in front of goal.

The Scotland international has been a relentless force at the tip of the Tynecastle attack this season and Rangers would be signing one of the best strikers in the Premiership.

Rangers are not the only side who’ve been linked to Shankland of course, with Old Firm rivals Celtic and several clubs south of the border also mentioned.

But it’s Ibrox which looks like the most picture perfect destination and the transfer murmurs continue in the press.

The latest from Sky Sports appears to confirm Rangers’ interest in Shankland whilst others have suggested the club will have to sell before they can buy.
