Hamza Igamane has been ‘closing in’ on a move to Rangers for weeks but now the striker’s latest Instagram post suggests a deal is imminent.

The Moroccan hitman, 21, has reportedly agreed a deal to move to Ibrox from local side FAR Rabat in a move which is being met with excitement in the Rangers ranks.

The club need new investment in the forward line and with Hamza Igamane rated amongst the best young forwards in world football, the deal could wind up being something of a coup.

With Rangers set to pay somewhere in the region of £1.7m to sign the uncapped striker, reports this week claimed that the particulars of the transfer had been thrashed out.

Now, after Igamane said his goodbyes to the club which reared him, it appears all that’s left is for the striker to be officially announced as a Rangers player.

Igamane in emotional Instagram address

Hamza Igamane’s recent Instagram activity has already sent Rangers fans sleuthing.

When the striker uploaded an image of himself with friends in the northeast of Brazil, it poured cold water on claims that an announcement regarding Rangers was imminent.

But now it’s the player’s official social media account which is suggesting the opposite as Igamane posts an emotional address to FAR Rabat.

Set to leave Moroccan shores for the first time, the striker has paid tribute to a football club and staff which will ‘always have a special place’ in his heart.

Translated, the post reads:

“My success comes only through Allah. In Him I trust and to Him I turn.

“After an incredible journey with ASFAR, which has shaped me into who I am today, it’s time to bid farewell and to embark on a new challenge.

“I have had the honour of achieving two titles with the club I deeply love.

“I’m forever grateful to the committee represented by the President Mohamed Haramou and Vice President Al-Ayoubi, to all the Askaries, teammates, coaches, staffs and everyone who has influence my career in any way.

“The leader will always hold a special place in my heart.

“Thank you for everything.”

Rangers bolster striker options in transfer market

Rangers fans will now look forward to Hamza Igamane signing on the dotted line at Ibrox ahead of next season.

The striker certainly looks an exciting acquisition and Rangers will hope any success opens transfer links between the club and the region.

The move for Igamane comes as Rangers revamp the squad with a host of talented young players from all over the world.

Brazilian left-back Jefte (Fluminense) has joined on a free-contract deal, as does French centre-back Clinton Nsiala (AC Milan), whilst Scotland U21 international Connor Barron (Aberdeen) also comes into the squad.

Throw in the permanent addition of Ivorian midfielder Mohamed Diomande (FC Nordsjælland) & the loan-to-buy acquisition of Colombian winger Oscar Cortes (RC Lens) and Rangers now boast a host of top young talents from around the globe.

Philippe Clement is clear that adding experience is now top of the Ibrox agenda with one Euro 2024 star’s arrival said to be ‘in the post’.
