Rangers could yet be handed a double Celtic blow boost as Ange Postecoglou is reportedly linked with star Parkhead striker Kyogo Furuhashi after moving to Spurs.

According to the Scottish Sun, the Australian coach is seriously considering a move for the 28-year-old Japanese international after swapping the Scottish Premiership for the English Premier League.

The report claims that there are clubs from around Europe’s top five leagues interested in Kyogo Furuhashi, with Celtic set to demand up to £20m for the striker.

But whilst that cash boost might help our Old Firm rivals out in the long-run, Rangers fans will have one eye on any unsettling moments for the Parkhead side heading into next season.

Rangers meekly surrendered a fifth treble in seven seasons to Celtic in the last campaign and Michael Beale is setting about changing that next season.

Rangers must welcome Celtic Kyogo Furuhashi blow

With the Ibrox side’s world-record trophy haul on the line, Rangers quite simply must begin to win trophies and titles consistently and start adding to the trophy room from the next campaign.

Anything which damages Celtic is a clear and obvious boost to Rangers and whilst you’ll find no Ange Postecoglou to Spurs hubris here, losing Kyogo Furuhashi would clearly be a big blow to the club.

The Japanese striker netted 34 goals in 50 games for Celtic last season and that lethal instinct is a major part of what currently separates them from us.

Kyogo Furuhashi has also netted five goals in nine games against Rangers, including two in the League Cup Final and an all-important late strike to rescue a stifling draw at Ibrox earlier in the campaign.

Rangers might only be able to control what is happening in their wheelhouse – and they quite simply have got to get it right next season – but anything that unsettles Celtic is certainly welcome.

With Ange Postecoglou gone, and Kyogo Furuhashi potentially set to follow, the two poster boys of their recent resurgence leaves them without the leadership which has left Rangers in the dust over the last 18 months.
