It appears that Rangers are nearing the completion of a sixth January signing.
Steven Davis and Jermain Defoe were the first arrivals this month. They joined the Gers on loan from Southampton and Bournemouth respectively.

Then came Glen Kamara and Jordan Jones. They signed pre-contract agreements with the club, which will see them join in the summer.
Last week, there was a fifth transfer.
22-year-old goalkeeper, Andy Firth, joined on an 18-month contract from AFC Barrow.

In Tuesday’s press conference, Steven Gerrard was drawn on the situation with Matt Polster.
The 25-year-old American spent time on trial with the club last month and has since been offered a permanent deal.
“I think that could be announced at any time”, said Gerrard as captured by RangersTV.
“He’s travelled to France to get the work permit application complete. So that’ll be announced maybe today, maybe tomorrow”, he continued.
“We’re confident that one will happen.”

Polster is a full USA international, who has spent the last three years at Chicago Fire.
Initially, a defensive midfielder, he has converted to right-back. Therefore, should he arrive before the end of the window, he could at last provide competition for James Tavernier.
Clearly, some formalities are still to be completed, but this one looks all but done.
