Steven Gerrard has provided an update on potential Ibrox departures, as quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times.
It was reported earlier in the week that four Rangers players were set for the exit door having been left out of the club’s pre-season trip to Portugal [Daily Record]. It has since emerged that Jordan Rossiter has also been told to find a new club [Scottish Sun].

Gerrard then admitted he was keen to trim his squad ahead of the coming season [Daily Record].
His latest comments suggest, though, that it will be a while before there are wholesale departures. That’s due to a lack of bids on the table for his players.
Even stars like Alfredo Morelos and James Tavernier haven’t been subject to any offers.
No bids = no departures
“There’s been a lot of speculation about Tav and Alfredo and I’m not surprised by it,” said Gerrard, as quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times. “They both had very good seasons. But there hasn’t been a single bid for either of those players, that’s the truth.”
“There hasn’t been an offer for any of my players up until now.
“Am I confident of keeping Tav and Alfredo? It’s not a question I need to answer right now because there are no offers on the table. Am I expecting a bid? Possibly. So I’ll make a decision if and when a bid lands.
“Every player has a price. But if bids come in that are nowhere near acceptable then the answer is going to be a straight no. If a bid comes in that’s an eye opener or if it’s at the level we rate the player we’ll have a decision to make and I’ll make it there and then.”

Verdict
It’s somewhat surprising that we’re nearing the end of June and there have been no offers for any Rangers players.
Perhaps that lack of activity is why it’s been made so obvious in the last week that certain players are available.
As for Tavernier and Morelos, Gerrard continues to claim the players have their price.

Yet, the later we head into the window, the more disruptive it would be and the harder it would prove to secure an adequate replacement for either star man at a decent price.
Clearly, the club can’t afford to turn down massive offers. Yet, Stevie G must be careful all the initial good work in this window isn’t undone.
