Fringe Rangers winger Glenn Middleton is set for a loan return to Scottish Premiership rivals St Johnstone this season, according to reports.
The diminutive Rangers winger spent the second half of last season on loan at the Perthshire club and enjoyed great success, winning a cup double at McDiarmid Park.

After Rangers spent some time assessing the player over pre-season, the suggestion is that they are now prepared to let the player head out on loan for another year.
The Daily Record claim that the details of the 21-year-old’s spell with Callum Davidson’s side will be ironed out once they return from their Europa League qualifier with Galatasaray.
Middleton would’ve been cheering on his former and future teammates as they played out a spirited and legendary 1-1 draw in Istanbul.
Whilst the winger won’t be available for the second leg, no matter the outcome Middleton should get a foray into Europe with the Saints who will either make the Europa League Playoff or drop down into the European Conference League equivalent.
That’s if the deal is concluded before the match takes place.
St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson is a big fan of Glenn and has kept the door open for his return all season long.
“Glenn wasn’t getting first-team football at Rangers and he wanted to prove himself,” said Davidson [Courier]. “All credit to him for doing that.
“He stepped up and scored some crucial goals for us.
“I do believe that if Glenn has a full season with someone and plays a lot of games he’ll go on to do great things and push for a place in the Scotland squad.
“I’ve spoken to Rangers, who have been brilliant. They’ve been really honest with me.

“They want him to go back there and they’ll assess how he’s getting on.
“It’s definitely not one I’d shut the door on.
“We’ve got a good relationship with Rangers and hopefully, if it isn’t Glenn, it will maybe be somebody else.”
Whilst Middleton looks set to depart Ibrox, another Gers star could be about to sign a new deal with the Light Blues.
