Former Rangers defender predicts much more summer transfer activity

Marvin Andrews has assessed Rangers’ prospects for next season and the club’s transfer activities, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
Andrews only spent two seasons at Ibrox between 2004 and 2006. Yet, that didn’t stop him becoming a cult hero, helping the club to league and league cup titles.

Now, he’s regularly seen turning out in charity matches for the Rangers legends and taking part in club events.
As 2019/20 approaches, he’s optimistic, but wary of predicting too much with months of the transfer window left to run. He believes Steven Gerrard still has plenty of shopping to do before the season starts.
“The manager will be wiser for having a year’s experience and he will know how desperate the fans are for success,” said Andrews, as
quoted by the Scottish Sun. “It is no secret that they want to stop Celtic winning nine in a row — and it’s obvious that he will want to stop Celtic.”
“We don’t yet know all the players who will be coming in. The manager has made a few signings already this summer but there are more to come for sure.
“So, at the moment, it’s a hard one to call because we don’t know the full make-up of the squad. The pre-season games will be important because the matches in Europe come right at the start and we know how big they are for Rangers.”

Verdict

It should be exciting for Bears that Andrews, who still spends a lot of time around the club, believes there’s plenty of transfer business yet to come.
The Gers have already brought in Jordan Jones, Jake Hastie, Greg Stewart and tied Steven Davis to a permanent deal. Elsewhere in the interview, he also refers to Sheyi Ojo as a Rangers player.
With these additions, the squad is already shaping up nicely. However, if the club is able to shift some deadweight and bring in further quality, the Light Blues will be starting the season from a position of strength.
As the former Trinidad and Tobago international says, though, perhaps it’s best to reserve predictions until then. Only when the window shuts and the dust settles, will we really know how Gerrard’s side shapes up in comparisons to their rivals.
