That’s after Medhi Benatia left for Qatari side Al Duhail.
The 37-year-old centre-back is currently club captain at Parma Calcio, having spent last season in Glasgow.
Alves’ Rangers stint didn’t go according to plan, but, despite his advancing age, he has got his career back on track in Italy.
Even so, it was a surprise to see his name linked with the Old Lady.
One of main challengers for the Champions League this season, they have won the last seven Serie A titles.
Yet, Juventus confirmed a transfer yesterday that may spell the end of any interest in the ex-Ger.

It seems prudent business from the Italian champions.
They received an estimated £8.7 million for Benatia, but will pay no fee for Caceres, as he arrives on a five-month loan deal.
It’s also a low-risk signing, as his previous two stints ensure Juve know what they are getting.
Any move for Alves would now seem unlikely.
Juventus have plugged the hole left by Benatia and as they would have to stump up approximately €1.5 million for the Portuguese, according to Tutto Mercato, it’s a move which now makes less and less sense.
