Hearts announced on Monday that they had secured a pre-contract agreement with former Ger, Craig Halkett.
The £450k-rated defender (Transfermarkt) will join on a three-year deal in the summer when his current contract expires.

The centre-back has been a near ever-present for Livingston this season, making 36 appearances and scoring five times.
More impressive, though, is the frugal nature of the Lions defence he leads.
Despite this being their first season back in the SPL, they have registered 15 clean sheets to date.
Gerrard should have moved
The heart of defence is an area in which Rangers need to recruit in the summer.
Joe Worrall is set to return to Nottingham Forest and Gareth McAuley is surely unlikely to secure a contract extension.

Therefore, just two senior centre-backs will remain: Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic.
As identified earlier in the season, Halkett represented a safe, cost-effective option.
He came through the Academy at Rangers but opted to leave for Livi before making his senior debut.

Three years on and not only has he helped secure two promotions, but he has captained a team with a small budget to SPL safety.
Halkett is an old fashioned, no nonsense defender and especially as he was available on a free, it looks as though Rangers have missed a trick here.
