Former Dundee manager Neil McCann has told the Scottish Sun he believes Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara is now worth at least £10 million.

Arsenal [Daily Mail] and Sheffield United [Scottish Sun] are the latest Premier League clubs to be credited with an interest in the 24-year-old, after a stellar first half of the 2019/20 campaign at Ibrox.

The man who brought him to Scotland in the first place has a feeling he’ll want to remain a Ger, though, at least for the time being.

“Who knows what will happen — maybe Rangers will receive an offer they can’t reject,” McCann told the Scottish Sun. “All I know is that Glen won’t be making waves. He loves it at Rangers and when I talk to him he’s desperate to be successful there.”

“That’s what is driving  Glen now — a desire to lift silverware with Rangers. He won’t be pushing to leave in January. I can say that 100 per cent.”

McCann, who himself played for Rangers between 1998 and 2003, was also drawn on how much he thinks Kamara is now worth, and it’s considerably more than the measly £50,000 the club paid to prize him from Dundee a year ago.

“If we’re talking about Glen’s real value then we should be talking eight figures. It certainly wouldn’t surprise me if Rangers were asking for that type of money if and when they decide to sell.”

Verdict

It’s certainly good news for Bears if McCann is correct in his assertion that Kamara feels an affinity with Rangers and will want to stay until the end of the season.

The lure of the Premier League is undoubtedly very strong, but he’s still a young player and he has domestic titles to chase and more Europa League adventures to look forward to in 2020 if he remains at Ibrox.

As for the player’s valuation, an eight figure transfer fee would represent remarkable business given what the club paid for Kamara.

The apparent competition for his signature should raise his price, as should his participation at the European Championships with Finland if he’s still a Ger by the summer.

Therefore, £10 million or more is well within the realms of possibility.
